The Sunday sermons for April and the special services for Holy Week
|Apr 6||The Story of the Raising of Lazarus||John 11:1-45
The story of the raising of Lazarus is a puzzling story about the raising of a dead man. It’s a good chance to remember that it’s not too late to hear Jesus calling to you, even in the midst of suffering or grief.
|Apr 13||Decision Time||Deuteronomy 30:15-20
Palm Sunday is always a bittersweet celebration. The children gather around Jesus, entering Jerusalem, but we know that this is the walk to his death.
|Apr 17||MAUNDY (HOLY) THURSDAY
| John 13:1-35
This is the night of Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.
|Apr 18||Good Friday Community Service, 12 noon
at Grace Temple COGIC
|The Ministerial Association is bringing back an old tradition: the seven last words of Christ, presented by seven pastors giving seven short reflections on the last sayings of Jesus reported in the gospels. The service should be about an hour and a half.|
|Apr 20||Starting Over||Easter Service in Tennant Hall
The holiest day of the Christian year is the celebration of Jesus rising from death and appearing to his followers. We begin with breakfast at 8:30, and an Easter egg hunt in Wesley Chapel at 9:30. What a good day to invite your friends!
|Apr 27||What Will Bring You to Your Knees?||John 20:19-31
Another story about the Resurrection: Thomas is the last to see Jesus after he has risen. Thomas is a reasonable guy, who wants to see what everyone else is so excited about.
We now have tapes of Sunday sermons available! If you would like to borrow a tape, you may either contact Carol at the Church Office by calling 517-629-9425 or you may use the Contact form on this website. If you do the latter, be sure to note "Sunday Sermon Tape" in the comment/question box.
